I'll
try to recommend some that at least I would consider “original”. Now
that could be that the show is literally one of a kind or just the best
at telling a type of story. So here we go.
The classics:
West Wing.
Great writing, wonderful characters and well acted. About the only show
out there that can give you hope in regards to government.
Person of Interest.
Let's face it. It's 2018 and we all know we are being monitored. The
idea that a group of people could use those tools for good is a day
dream I want to have. Clever is definitely a word you would use for this
show. It's also a bit of a thriller with out being over the top.
Wanted.
This is an Aussie production. It's kind of a modern take on the
fugitive idea. With two women that make Oscar and Felix seem like a
compatible pair.
Stranger Things. What's not to love about this series. Set in the 80s. Almost a Goonies goes Dark feel to it. Black ops in a small town, what could go wrong?
The Tunnel.
Now I'm qualifying this as clever because unlike when the US attempts
to take over a foreign series, this British spin at this Scandinavian
creation was fabulous. By the second season totally it's own master.
Saving Grave. I'm not even sure I can describe this one to you. Holly Hunter
plays a detective in Oklahoma. She's feisty and self destructive. She
makes a desperate wish after an accident and ends up with a debt to an
angel. Let's just say she has trouble walking a straight line even with
him around.
Wynonna Earp.
This is from the syfy channel. This show rocks it's low budget boots
like no other. If you like snarky and witty. A little bit a modern day
western meets demon hunters. Honestly give it a spin.
Other worthy mentions. Schitts Creek, Parks and Rec, the Heart Guy, Happy Valley, Janet King and Miss Fishers Mysteries.
