5. Girl Advice Steve sharing with Dustin all his wisdom about picking up chicks is comedic gold.
4. Steve vs. the Demogorgon
This is the turning point in Steve’s character arc. His decision to go
back inside the Byers’ house and take on the monster (even though he has
literally no idea what’s going on) is the decision that allows us to
like him as a character. Let’s hope that this choice didn’t seal his
fate in a future season.
3. Sharing a Cigarette
Not a lot happens when Joyce and Hopper sit down at the table to
discuss “being on edge”, but everything is in the looks they give each
other. A great character building moment is when we don’t have to hear
any dialogue to learn something about the characters. When we watch
Hopper and Joyce share a cigarette, all of the history that they clearly
have together seems to come out onscreen.
2. She’ll Kill You
One of Eleven’s great heroic moments in the show is when she saves Mike
and Dustin from Troy and James. From Dustin’s threats to the frightened
bullies to the three-way embrace the kids share, it’s a powerful scene.
It also pays off well in the next season, when El remembers what she
did and realizes, “I can save them.”
1.Snow Ball ’84
Cliche, but there is truly no other choice for greatest scene in the
show. Finally, we get to see all of our protagonists take a break to
share a dance and a kiss and a happily ever after (not actually—the Mind
Flayer is still alive and lurking right above the Upside Down’s version
of Hawkins Middle).
