I've
only ever witnessed one other being holding it like that and that is
Loki. I presume that he was only able to do that owing to his
proficiency with using it.
Thanos, as far as
we know, has had no previous experience with the Infinity Stones. So
holding it in his arm, he should have been disintegrated just as Red
Skull was.
He snaps it in his arm like a peanut.
Take
that, and also factor in that he is on Nova Prime's radar for his past
transgressions. That alone makes him a galactic threat if not a
universal one.
Oh, and he calls Ronan boy.
Boy. Like a store owner chastising a shoplifter. Ronan, the Accuser.
Kree blood-baron. A sadistic genocidal maniac. Shows how beneath him, he
considers Ronan.
