What events will most likely take place after Infinity War?

Infinity War is going to be filled to the brim with loads of heartbreak, death and, of course, valiant heroes.

There will need to be some recovery time following the catastrophic events that take place in this story, but I have no doubts that Marvel will manage to get back in the swing of things after the movie event of the century comes to a close. (Maybe an overstatement but right now it seems like it!)

The first issue that will face the MCU following Thanos’s reign of terror will most likely be Secret Invasion.

The main reason I believe that Secret Invasion will be the next big story after Infinity War is due to the introduction of Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), set to be released in 2019. I won't get too into it, but Ms. Danvers plays a tremendous role in the original comic book storyline, in a sort of “"chosen one” fashion that I think could play out quite well in the MCU. It would also give an incredible and compelling next Phase story for the studio and its audience.

Secret Invasion is essentially a widespread takeover of the world by an alien race identified as the Skrulls, masters of deception, disguise and shapeshifting. They pretend to be popular heroes to secretly invade Earth and seize it as their own. They are already confirmed to appear in Captain Marvel, so I strongly believe they will play a colossal role in the MCU afterwards.

I also predict that this Invasion will lead the remaining Avengers, as well as other new characters, to cosmic realms. Phase 4 will be mainly be focused on alien races and heroes away from Earth, as many theories have already projected. This is where characters like Peter Parker, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes come into immense importance - they are the heroes that will keep the MCU grounded and will act as tethers to humanity.

They are the characters who will be kept as relatable as possible. They will still travel to cosmic realms and face cosmic enemies, however they will stay concentrated on Earth.

Bucky Barnes, who will most likely take the title of Captain America after Steve Roger’s inevitable death, will play a sizable role in Phase 4 as the new leadership of the Avengers, alongside Spider-Man, who will act as an unofficial leader of sorts (just a guess) if Tony Stark ends up dying in Infinity War alongside Steve.

Whatever the case may be, expect bigger ideas and even bigger events on bigger scales in the stories following Infinity War.

Except the Skrulls to show up, and also expect the Kree Empire to make an appearance (they have already appeared in Agents of SHIELD. I think they could also be mentioned or given a role, especially if the Skrulls become a central villain.)

With the kick off of the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming to welcome us into Phase 4, who knows what’s in store. But we still have two more years of Infinity Wars to get through, (despite the Untitled Avengers Film’s cryptic title, it's gotta be directly in relation with the first), so we have a little while before we should begin speculating what will definitely occur in Phase 4.

Magic, most likely, aliens and adventures through the cosmos. With Spider-Man to shepherd audiences into the next Phase, I have no doubt in my mind that it will be anything short of incredible.

I can only dream that the original Avengers will stay and be apart of it.
