Before
anyone starts making assumptions, I would like to assure that I
completely love all the Marvel characters and I do not want them to die
personally. But these are estimated guesses, supported by some
thoughtful insights I’ve read on several articles.
Iron Man. One
of the biggest heroes of MCU, the main characters of the movie that
started everything, Iron Man. Iron Man is my favorite character and it’s
really sad for me write this down; Tony Stark will most likely die in
the upcoming Infinity War movie.
Tony Stark
had been one of the prime being that held up Marvel for ten years. And
Robert Downey Jr. had acted Iron Man in countless different movies and
had starred as a main character in five of them (including the Avengers)
and it will be his third one coming soon.
RDJ
himself is nearing a retiring age and he confirmed that he may not be
able to continue being the charming Tony Stark for long. And I think
Infinity War is definitely the best good-bye any movie producer can give
Iron Man, in the theme of “A New Beginning” with the set of new heroes
taking on Phase 3.
His death (which I’ll
lament my eyes out at the cinemas) will definitely affect everyone in
the movie, especially Peter Parker, whom Tony had been a father-figure
to. I think Spider Man’s main character development will center around
his beloved role model’s death, thus pushing Marvel further.
And
his death would be a big impact, creating the most mourned death. I
think his death will be the “trigger” of the movie and, hopefully, he
had died doing something very, very crucial and sacrificing himself. His
death, although very sad, will be a very important meaning for
everyone, both on and off screen. I personally wish he died last minute,
so I could savor every last of his moments on-screen.
Iron
Man has latched himself to be one of everyone’s “likeable asshole” for a
long era of time and I think it’s time for everyone to realize that
nothing lasts forever. Of course, no one will be able to replace our
charming Tony Stark in our hearts.
Captain America. Another
loved bais in my heart. Like RDJ, Chris Evans has finished his contract
with Marvel, his last Captain America movie finished in 2016.
Steve
Rogers has always been a very important character to all the other
Marvel heroes, him being the former leader of Avengers and him being
linked to so many of the past’s figures (e.g. Howard Stark).
The
most confirmed fact is that Chris Evans had specifically said he didn’t
want to be Captain America anymore, due to many reasons. I think this
seals the deal. Everything had been said; one way or another, Steve
Rogers will definitely be out of the frame permanently.
Along
with Tony Stark, Captain America will definitely be the most effective
death in the movie, probably the biggest catalyst in the plot. His
sacrifice (is what I’m assuming his death will be) will be the most
beautiful thing in the movie and I’m sure everyone will mourn.
The
question still stands whether or not he will actually die. Sure, Chris
Evans might want to be out but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Steve
Rogers will die. There are less assumptions about his “disappearing act”
but there’s a high chance that it will be his death.
The
only thing I can imagine is who will be the next Captain America. Will
there even be one? Both Bucky and Sam had been Captain America in the
comics, but will they ever be able to fulfill the title?
Hawk Eye. He
might not essentially “die”. But I’m sure Clint Barton has shed his
identity of Hawk Eye. Although underrated at most times, Clint Barton
came out in majority of the Marvel movies, even if he never got his own.
He was the character that was always there.
Now,
I did a little play on words over there. I’m sure even though many
regard him as expendable, Clint Barton won’t die. But perhaps, Hawk Eye
might.
I know the confusion clouding your
brain right there. It’s confusing but in the comics, after the Civil
War, Clint Barton created another alter ego, abandoning his old identity
of the hero Hawk Eye, a part of Striker Team: Delta. He chose to be
“Ronin”, what some people think of as an upgraded version of Hawk Eye.
Clint
Barton didn’t come out in the Infinity War trailer, Hawk Eye or not,
and there might a chance that he had fully “retired” and might never
come back out again. But if you ask me, I have a whole new theory.
Hawk Eye will die. But Ronin will be born.
Ronin
is definitely the same Clint Barton, but with a bow that can transform
into multiple other weapons. And he is masked, although I doubt if
Marvel will fully adopt all of the comic book character to the screen.
I
know this might annoy you because I definitely didn’t literally mean
that a character was going to die. I’m sorry if it infuriate you, but I
thought it was somewhat insightful. :))
Thanos. This
might actually come pretty obvious so most people. The villain always
dies in movies. If not dead, close to something like an eternal
imprisonment.
Now, I’m a 99.9% sure that he
wouldn’t die in the Infinity War Part I. It’s either that or there is a
major plot twist that an evil being even more powerful that Thanos will
be introduced. But there was a slim chance of that, since even the
comics depict him as Marvel’s biggest foe.
There is no debate on his death but if he doesn’t die, here will surely be some.
Firstly,
the name Infinity War suggests it all. Thanos should definitely be put
to an end somehow. He came out in snippets of other films sometimes and
he definitely seemed to be in the background for a long time. If he
doesn’t die, it would just seem like Marvel is drawling on their story
with monotony and gibberish (no offense).
He
may be revived in the later Phases, but he should have an ultimate
death that gives an air of finality and THE END kind of atmosphere.
And
I think a lot of the side-character will be sacrificed. I’m sorry for
putting them that way but that’s the only to make it clear. Perhaps one
of the Guardians are going to die (but definitely not Star Lord, because
he comes back for GOTG vol. 3 later on) or even one of the Asgardians
(I hope it’s not Heimdall).
There are lots and lots of rumors and theories but all I know for sure is that I will definitely cry a lot. A LOT.
