The show and it’s seasons have defiantly had a bit of a decline recently, but somethings are simply fantastic
Hardhome
This marked that the Others weren’t just a background problem, and hearing about it through letters did it a disservice. It hit us like a bloody truck, and has been the best part of the show. Period.
The Buring of the Dosh Khalen
This scene, whilst making the Whole Dance of Dragons and Summerhall being a little silly (If Targaryeans can’t burn, tell that to Duncan, and Duncan, And Jaeareys) regardless, it showed Dany really coming in to her own, and how she would do what ever it takes
Tywin and Arya
Not a huge change, but I love idea of a 10 year old having a battle of witts with one of the most dangerous people in Westeroes. I thought it made Tywin a lot more likeable, and now it makes sense why Arya didn’t send Jaqen H’Gar after him. I’m also a huge sucker for Banter
Battle of the Blackwater
I thought that I was never taken out of the moment. In books you get what, 5 chapters? And each one is disconnect and such. The show made it far better to watch. Also, Wyldfire was far, far more terrifying.
Battle of Castle Black
For literally all three points above, but replace Wyldfire with Giants, and the Chain. The terribly ineffective but Bad-Ass chain.

Melisandre
Mostly for season 6 on, I felt like her reaction to learning her god was fake, or not willing to help, was totally accurate for a priest who has fallen out of their belief.
Bran/ / Greensight
I like that it is more than whatever other Greenseers, Children of the Forest and Weirwoods see. That Bran can teleport back in time.
The Others//White Walkers//The Night King
I love how the Walkers now have a terrifying leader. Whilst White Walkers were weaker when we watch them than reading about them, they capture the air of sophistication and “I don’t Give a Fuck” that can only be convened on screen.
