Baby Driver was a great film. Wonder Woman was a great film.
They are two different films, obviously.
However,
I’d like to say Baby Driver stayed with me longer. What I mean, is that
Wonder Woman was well-executed. But for those of us from a different
generation, we expect Wonder Woman. We expect a female superhero. And so
without the superlatives of the largest female-directed film of
all-time, and the first female superhero film, it was just a really good
film.
Baby
Driver hooked my attention and never let go. There’s one scene from
that film that I believe will be remembered for 25 years. The music, the
editing, the surprise.
I knew Gal Gadot was
a star, the first film I saw her in. She’s exceptional. I hadn’t
watched a film with Ansel Elgort and had no idea what to expect. Lily
James stole every scene she was in. Ansel Elgort was perfect. He had
swagger, especially when I was expecting a pretty boy.
It was a cowboy, cops and robbers Western, set in modern times. And it delivered.
B-A-B-Y.
